ARUNDEL ART SOCIETY CONSTITUTION
1. TITLE
The Society to be known as “The Arundel Art Society”.
2. OBJECTIVES
To promote the enjoyment of Art in its many forms. To help and encourage fellow members.
To arrange Exhibitions.
3. MEMBERSHIP
Open to all irrespective of age and ability.
Membership details to be held by the Committee observing Data Protection guidelines.
4. ORGANISATION
a) President
A President can be appointed by invitation of the committee.
b) Committee
The Committee shall comprise at least six Society members elected/ratifed by the membership at the AGM.
c) Officers
The officers are Chairperson, Vice chair (optional), Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Exhibition Organiser, Programme Secretary and any other office as seen fit by the committee. All officers are to be ratified at the AGM.
d) The Committee can co-opt another committee member should the need arise, to be ratiied at the next general meeting.
5. SUBSCRIPTIONS
Subscriptions to be fixed by the Committee, reviewed annually and are to be paid at the time of or before the AGM.
6. SOCIETY FUNDS
a) The Treasurer to keep Accounts, to be audited annually by the elected auditor. The Treasurer to be responsible for the collection of monies due to the Society and the timely payment of monies due from the Society.
b) Cheques payable by the Society to be signed by the Treasurer and nominated signatory. Online payments over the maximum authority to be approved in advance of the payment being made.
c) The nominated signatory also to have access to view the Accounts.
d) Payments over £400-00 to be approved by the Committee.
e) The Accounts to be audited by a suitable person of good standing, approved by the Committee ahead of the AGM.
f) A condition of membership is that a member shall not without the consent of the Committee commit the Society to any expenditure.
8. EXHIBITIONS
a) Pictures are entered for exhibition at the owner’s risk
b) Works other than paintings to be included in exhibitions after approval by committee.
c) Presentation of art works to adhere to the Society guidelines.
d) Commission fees to be charged at 20% or as reviewed from time to time by the Committee.
e) Payment for art works sold at exhibitions to be collected by the Society. Payment to successful artists to be made as soon as possible after the exhibition less commission.
f) It is conditional that participating artists at exhibitions assist in the setting up, running and dismantling of the same.
g) Unsold paintings are to be collected immediately after the Exhibition closes.
h) The Committee reserves the right to reject any unsuitable pieces.
i) In the event of an exhibition being oversubscribed, regular attendance at weekly meetings may be taken into account.
9. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The AGM is to be held at the close of the respective financial year, normally late January or early February.
